Mary Ruth Fleck

Mary “Ruth” Fleck, age 93, of North Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away Sept. 29, 2016, at her home.

She was born May 1, 1923, in Asheville, NC, the daughter of Charles and Marie (Brown) Mitchell. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Nannie Katherine Beeson; and two brothers, William Lee Mitchell and Harry Edward Mitchell. She is survived by a brother, Charles Robert Mitchell of Asheville, NC; a sister, Doris N. Pollock of North Myrtle Beach, SC; sister-in-law, Barbara Mitchell of Hickory, NC; and seven nieces and nephews, Ann Meechie, Susan Barbera, Kelley Laney, Susan Burns, Michael Beeson, Thomas Beeson and Diane Fruend.

Ruth retired from the National Security Agency in 1976 after 28 years of dedicated service.

A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 3, 2016, at Burke Memorial Park, Morganton, NC, with the Rev. Nicholas Barbera officiating.
