Linda Gail Wagner, 72, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. Born on May 21, 1951, in Bluefield, WVA she was a daughter of the late Frank and Hazel Hylton Richards.
A 1969 graduate of Bluefield High School, Linda met and fell in love with Larry Wagner, her high school sweetheart. They were married on May 20, 1971 while she was attending Concord College. She finished her college academics with a triple major from Concord before beginning a lengthy career in public school education eventually retiring from Hurricane Middle School, in Hurricane, WVA.
Following retirement, Linda and Larry made their home in Longs, SC in 2019. They wanted to be closer to their daughter and her husband but most importantly, they wanted to be near their granddaughter, Ashlyn. Being a “Grammy” and “Mai” was the best title and blessing she ever knew. Moving to Longs also meant the opportunity to golf more regularly. Linda and Larry spent days golfing at different courses throughout the beach. She also enjoyed playing racquetball.
Prior to relocating, Linda and Larry were members of Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church. They worked together in various capacities throughout the church for numerous years.
Surviving in addition to her husband Larry is her daughter, Anna Mason (husband, Bobby); granddaughter, Ashlyn Mason; sisters, Mary Ann Lavender and Jo Ann Bearden.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory, 11840 Highway 90, Little River, SC 29566.
