John Roy Setzer

John Roy Setzer, age 63, of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina passed away on January 8, 2022. Born in New Bern, North Carolina on January 5, 1959 he was the son of Ruth (Patsy) Setzer and the late Roy C. Setzer.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Lori Tutterow Setzer; mother, Ruth (Patsy) Setzer; sister, Ruth Hunt (Jim); niece, Naomi Hunt and nephew, David Hunt.

After graduating from UNC Chapel Hill School of Pharmacy in 1983, John began his career as a dedicated and caring pharmacist. He worked at CVS Pharmacy on Hanes Mall Boulevard in Winston Salem, North Carolina for most of his career. His love for helping people was evident to his customers and staff. Both John and Lori were active UNC Alumni serving as preceptors for the School of Pharmacy. Once John retired in 2014, he and Lori relocated to North Myrtle Beach just a year later. During his time in North Myrtle Beach, John became a very proud member of the OD Shag Club. John cherished each moment spent with his loving wife, he deeply loved his family and friends. John was known for his kindness, smile and sense of humor.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on February 19, 2022 at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory.

John was blessed to find a support group of lung cancer patients that helped him tremendously. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to the Lungevity Foundation at Lungevity.org or mail to the Lungevity Foundation, PO Box 754, Chicago,IL 60690.
