Jimmy Harold Smith, age 89, of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. Born on October 25, 1934 in Waynesboro, Tennessee, he was a son of the late Mack Edgar Smith and Quincy Meredith Smith.
He is survived by his life partner, Betty Mitchell; children, Deborah Snead (Bill), Bobby Meyers (Tina), Jimmy Smith, Jr., Kelly Burgess (Joe), William Meyers (Melinda), Stacie Smith; brother, Jack Smith; eighteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Walter Smith.
A graduate of Wayne County High School in Tennessee, Jimmy decided to join the United States Navy where he trained at the U.S. Navel Training Center in Bainbridge, Maryland then went on to serve our country in the Korean War. Jimmy had a passion for sports and the outdoors. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, softball, tennis, fishing and camping. Jimmy was a member of Masonic Lodge #131 in Glen Allen Virginia where he was a Grand Master Mason. He was also part of the Richmond Virginia Shriners Honor Guard. Jimmy retired from AT&T in Richmond, Virginia. A Christian who loved his savior, family and friends, Jimmy will forever be remembered by those who knew him.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, August 16, 2024 at North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens. Lee Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
