Mr. Gary grew up on the family farm in Paoli, IN and was a graduate of Paoli High School. On September 16, 1978, he married Evelyn and they began their family. He was a truck driver for 20 years before moving to North Myrtle Beach, SC where he then began working with US Securities. Gary worked for one summer in mall security before becoming a licensed School Resource Officer. He began his SRO career at Conway High School and then St. James High School before coming to North Myrtle Beach High School where he was for 12 years prior to his retirement. Known to the students and staff as Mr. Gary, his dedication and love of the job and the students brought him great success and many lasting friendships. Gary was a member of Lordsway Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Evelyn, are his children, Michele Renee Keiper (husband, Hank), Michael K. Barnett (wife, Rose), Rebecca Barnett, and Kenneth Barnett. He is also survived by his best friend and faithful canine companion, Gracie.
The family of Mr. Gary will receive friends on Friday, August 5, 2022 at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m.
