Edward Gilbert Odom, Jr. passed away at his home at the age of 71. A native of Fayetteville, NC, he graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1968 and Methodist College in 1972. He started a lengthy career with the postal service in Fayetteville and completed his career as Postmaster in Sanford, NC. He retired to Little River, SC.
Pop-E, Uncle Ed, Mr. Odom, Mr. Ed was a great jokester who loved to laugh and make others laugh. He loved his family and took care of his friends. He was the happiest at the hunting club, on a horse, or on the dance floor.
He was the son of Edward Gilbert Odom and Hattie Mallard Odom. He is survived by his daughters Krissy Lyell (Nate) of Grayson, GA, Kathy Betz (Jordan) of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren Griffin, Davis, and Graham Lyell and Brecken and Stella Betz; wife Linda Miller Odom of Little River, SC and her children Chris Ward, Rami Ward, and Nicholas Joseph; brother Charles Odom of Little River, SC, sister Alma Joyce Walker (Johnnie) of Raleigh, NC; nephews Michael Odom, Joseph and Jay Walker, and nieces Jenna Brock and Sara Nelson; cousin Anita Jones Stanton of Pinehurst and many other cousins.
We will celebrate his life at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Lighthouse Pointe Clubhouse, 5000 Lightkeepers Way, Little River, SC 29566.
