Dr. William (Bill) R. Peebles Jr., 79, of Lisle, IL, died of cancer on December 8th, 2024.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents William (Reg) and Mable. Bill is survived by his loving wife Sarah Ann, children Stephen and Gregory, daughter-in-law Liz, granddaughters Rose and Clara, and sisters Commie and Mae Beth.
He was born in Pontotoc, MS in 1945 to Reg and Mable. Bill graduated from Union High School and went on to attend Mississippi State University. While at Mississippi State he did a co-op where he worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority while obtaining his masters degree in Mechanical Engineering. After obtaining his masters, he worked at Newport News Shipbuilding where he met his future wife Sarah Ann. He returned to Mississippi State to obtain a PHD in Mechanical Engineering before joining Sargent & Lundy for 38 years until his retirement in 2013.
Bill was an avid reader, completing any and all puzzles he could get his hands on, including completing the daily crossword using a pen. He spent his retirement doting on his granddaughters and family and traveling the world with his wife and sisters.
