He was born October 14, 1935 in Lewiston the son of John and Julia (King) Hanlon.
Richard graduated from Edward Little High School in 1955 where he met his high school sweetheart Karen Lawyer and later married her on November 24, 1962. Immediately out of high school he went to Southern Maine Community College (SMVTI) and then went into the Army and served in Korea.
In 1967 he moved to Lisbon to raise his family where he was involved with coaching in the L.J.A.L. baseball program and later coaching the American Legion team.
He worked for Central Main Power Company at Cousin’s Island in Yarmouth, retiring in 1997.
He belonged to the American Legion Post 158 of Lisbon, Lisbon Left Hand Club, Slovak Club, and the Eagles.
Richard enjoyed snowmobiling, NASCAR, traveling in the motorhome, camping, and spending time in Florida.
He is survived by his wife Karen Hanlon; two sons Jeffrey Hanlon and Kevin Hanlon & wife Mariette; grandchildren Lauren and Ryan Hanlon; many nieces and nephews.
Richard was predeceased by his mother and father and siblings John Hanlon & wife Theresa, Dolores Mottram & husband Gerry, and William Hanlon & wife Margo.
Per request of Richard J Hanlon, there will be no visiting hours or funeral services. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
