Valerie Marie McCombs, known to her loved ones as Val, passed away on August 25, 2023, at the age of 50 in Summit, NJ. She was born on January 17, 1973, in the City of Norwich, New York. Valerie was a kindhearted and gentle soul, a devoted sister, daughter, friend, and mother. Whenever she was around, everyone was guaranteed to have a good time, whether it be from the many jokes she would crack or the positive vibes she would exude. Valerie loved her family and would do anything she could to make sure they felt loved and seen. She was the perfect combination of nurturing and selflessness, always thinking of others before herself.
Valerie is survived by her beloved daughter, Cristina McCombs, her nephew Thorn Ruiz, her sister Samantha Sadoski, her uncle Roy Sadoski, and her cousin Kimberly Sadoski. She was preceded in death by her mother Nina McCombs, father James McCombs, and sister Naomi McCombs.
Valerie received her education from Joseph Battin Elementary School and Thomas Jefferson High School. She went on to pursue a successful career as a Retail Manager at IKEA and Majestic Catering Company.
In her free time, Valerie had a variety of hobbies that brought her joy. She loved to cook for people and try new recipes, finding fulfillment in nourishing others with her culinary creations. Valerie also enjoyed painting, watching the colors come alive on the canvas as she expressed her creativity. Gardening was another passion of hers, as she found peace and satisfaction in watching her plants grow day by day. Music was also a source of comfort for Valerie, and she would spend hours listening to Melissa Etheridge albums. However, above all else, Valerie cherished spending time with her daughter, creating lasting memories together.
Valerie Marie McCombs will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her kind and selfless nature touched the lives of many, and her memory will forever be held in their hearts.
A visitation for Valerie will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, 2124 East Saint George Ave, Linden, NJ 07036, with the prayer service taking place from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM. A private cremation will follow.
