Maria was born in Calabria, Italy to Sara and Domenico Oliverio. She married Ferdinando (John) Sacca and together in 1963 they emigrated and settled in Elizabeth, N.J.
Maria enjoyed cooking but more than anything she loved to feed people. Just when you thought you had enough she made sure you ate a little more. Her doors were always opened and the table was always set for EPD. You never left her home without being fed or feeling loved, even the stray animals would get a plate of pasta or leftovers. She absolutely adored her grandchildren and would often cook them their favorite meals, even if that meant she cooked multiple dishes. She spent her time sewing and gardening, making sure she grew enough basil for the sauce making season. She enjoyed walking around the house with her bird on her shoulder, singing Italian songs. Every morning she would walk across the street to St. Anthony’s church where she would light candles and attend daily mass. To say she devoted her life to her family is an understatement and she will be greatly missed by all.
Maria is survived by her loving children; Tony (Carol), Domenic, Tina Lawson-Sacca, John and Giacomo (Tricia). Her treasured grandchildren Maria Elena, Patrizia, Danielle, Vincenzo, Giovanni, Charles, Jennifer, Michael & Lucia. 8 Great-Grandchildren. One sister and two brothers. Many loving nieces, nephews and relatives.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband John, her parents Sara & Domenico. Her cherished son Vincenzo. One brother and one sister.
