Maria Martins

Maria Adelaide Martins, age 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on October 12, 2019; born September 13, 1944 but was called home after a short battle with cancer. She would say that those who remain are the only ones who suffer, for those who have passed are in a much better place. She was loved by many and will remain forever in our hearts.

She was a devoted wife to husband Jose A. Lourenço Martins, a loving mother and mother-in-law to her two children Jose A. Gonçalves Martins and wife Nicole E. Martins, Fernanda M. Martins Rhodes and her husband John A. Rhodes and a doting grandmother to her grandchildren Zoey M. Martins, Jesse M. Yip, Ryan A. Rhodes, Brandon J. Rhodes, Shane M. Rhodes and Jace P. Rhodes.

A Portuguese immigrant but proud American, she loved to share her culture as a singer in a traditional Portuguese folklore dance group, Rancho Folclórico A Eira. Maria loved to create elaborate crochet and cross-stitch pieces, which embody her as a person.

Maria loved flowers, but has asked that none be present at her funeral. In lieu of flowers, Maria asked that masses be said in her memory. We thank all those who have prayed and continue to pray for her. To the doctors and nurses that brought comfort to her. To the family and friends that encircled her with love as she passed away.

A Visitation for Maria will be held Monday, October 14, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, 2124 East Saint George Ave, Linden, NJ 07036.

A Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 10:30AM at Our Lady Of Fatima, 403 Spring St, Elizabeth, NJ 07201. Cremation will be private.
