Wayne Junior Plachy of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, one week after celebrating his 95th birthday. Wayne was born on November 5, 1929 in Dorchester, Nebraska to Lewis and Lola Plachy.
Wayne went to country school in Saline County, NE. He was always a very hard worker with a long career starting on the family farm, then as a truck driver, and finishing his career at Tabitha Nursing Home; including delivering Meals on Wheels to seniors when he was in his 70's. Wayne was a member of the Plains Baptist Church, the Teamsters Union, and a member of the American Legion Club. He served in the Army during the Korean War between 1950-1952 and was stationed in El Paso, Texas.
He is survived by his daughters, Debi and Susan; sons, Dennis and Lewis; his former wife and dear friend, Kathy Plachy; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; four siblings, Vera, Jeralyn, Harold and Harriet; his former wife, Marilyn; and two children, Mark and Shari.
A funeral service for Wayne will be held Friday, November 22, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Following the funeral service, there will be an interment at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, 6700 South 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska.
