Tom J Slocum

Tom passed into glory with Jesus, his Savior Jesus Christ. He was adopted as an infant into a loving home by Ralph and Dorothy Slocum and a brother, Jim, all deceased. He graduated from Southeast High School and attended St. Paul Bible College and was a member of the Air National Guard in the photography unit.

Tom was a faithful husband to his wife, Cindy, for 53 years. A special memory together was their trip to Israel and they enjoyed the daily routines of life and spending time together.

Their precious daughter, Andrea Wiedel, was a joy to his heart, and her husband Neil. Also his two grandchildren Cameron Asche, his wife Sydney, and great grandson Jack, and granddaughter Marissa Kugel and her husband Kyle.

Tom worked 40 years and retired from the University of Nebraska as a photographer. He enjoyed taking pictures of athletic and student programs and events. He did many brochures, Regents meetings, and about any photography that was needed at UNL and at the state capitol.

He owned his own studio in his home for 45 years, Tom Slocum Photography. Tom enjoyed working with and visiting with many returning customers through the years. He did his work with integrity and he had a variety of humorous ways to make them laugh and smile.

His family will remember him for his humor and fun personality. He so enjoyed spending time with his daughter, also the programs and sports events and fun times with his grandchildren. He had a quick wit and a knack for quirky comments.

Tom was a member of Zion PCA church and men's Bible study. Through the years he and Cindy made many wonderful friends, mostly through relationships with brothers and sisters in Christ at Southview Baptist and Lincoln Christian Fellowship churches as well as Zion.

A memorial service will be at Zion Church, 5511 South 27th St, Sunday, September 17th at 2pm, and a time for fellowship afterwards. Private burial at Lincoln Memorial Park. Lincoln, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers memorials to Samaritan's Purse. lincolnfh.com
