Randall “Blake” McEwen, 22, departed this world unexpectedly on December 7, 2023. He entered the world on April 2, 2001, blessing Julie and Randall “Scott” with his long-awaited presence. He excitedly welcomed younger brothers Cole and Dylan in ’03 and ’05.
Growing up, he loved “The Wiggles”, construction trucks, playing soccer, riding bikes and hanging with friends, going to Adventureland, Worlds/Oceans of Fun, fishing, and practicing WWE wrestling moves with his brothers, whom he dearly loved and fiercely protected.
Blake inherited his talent for playing Trumpet from his dad and grew his love for music in “E Wing” at Lincoln Southwest High School, participating in Marching Band and Show Choir, to name a few, graduating in 2019. Ever a talented musician, Blake taught himself to play piano completely by ear as an adult and could often be heard working out new songs, just for fun! Blake was excellent with people and planned on selling cars with his dad. He also aspired to a career in real estate investment and property management, as well as the stock market.
Blake continued to love the great outdoors, especially in Estes Park, Colorado. He continued to fish, hike and appreciate the beauty in nature. Other outdoor activities included Frisbee golf with friends, putt-putt golf and basketball with his Dad and brothers. A self-proclaimed “pool shark”, he loved playing pool with his brothers and cousins. He also loved video games, Pokemon Go, the Huskers and Packers, talking politics, especially with Grandma and Grandpa, and riding roller coasters and going to movies with Mom, Cole and Dylan. He also spent a great deal of time with his love, Sophie.
We know Blake is sad to have left us so unbelievably early, but his heart is now free and he will continue to look out for those he loves. His final destination is where the sun is always shining, the fish always bite, the Huskers and Packers never lose, his stocks are always up, and the music never stops.
We know he is catching up with those who preceded him in death, like Grandma Orange, Grandpa Jim, Grandma and Grandpa McEwen (as well as other family and friends).
Left to miss him immeasurably are his mother, Julie McEwen, father Randall “Scott”(Lesa) McEwen, brothers Cole and Dylan, grandparents Terry and Jan Sprieck, uncles Greg and Andy Sprieck (cousins Noah, Ethan and Alli), aunt Jennifer (Heath) Janeke, aunt Kim (Dave) Stemper, cousins Katie (Mike) Bohling, his love Sophie Barry, beloved cat Simba, all of Lincoln; cousin Brittany Laughlin of Topeka, KS; Jeff (Elizabeth) Owen of Omaha, and many extended family and friends.
Visitation to be held on Sunday, December 17th, from 2-4 pm at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home 6800 South 14th Street in Lincoln.
Graveside service at 1:00 pm, Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery on Monday, December 18, 2023
Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
