Marjorie R. Lehr, 93, passed away on January 8, 2015 at the Legacy Terrace Retirement Home in Lincoln. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 14th at the First United Methodist Church, 2723 N. 50nd Street, Lincoln, NE. A family burial before the service will be at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
Marjorie Ruth Walgreen was born on May 23, 1921 in Arcadia, Nebraska to Clarence and Vesta (Snyder) Walgreen. She grew up in Benedict, NE where she graduated from High School and then graduated from the University of Nebraska with teaching and business degrees. On October 10, 1942 she married Ira C. Lehr. Ira worked for the Burlington Railroad for over 40 years. Marge worked for many years in the State 4H office on East Campus and the University Foundation. During their many years of marriage they have lived in Lincoln, McCook, Omaha and Denver, Colorado before retiring to Lincoln.
Marge has been a resident of Legacy Terrace since 2008 and very much enjoyed playing cards with her friends. She was an avid bridge player and cross word puzzle enthusiast. She enjoyed going to plays, as well as traveling to many parts of the US and Europe. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Connie Lehr (Mark Craven) of Reading, MA and Charlene Schnoor (Joe) of Keller, TX; sons Craig (Jennifer) Lehr of Omaha and Clark (Robin) Lehr of Columbus; and her 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987 and by her parents.
