Julie A. Westergren March 18, 1958 – June 7, 2017 Julie A. Westergren, age 59, of Lincoln passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 7. 2017. Her long battle with cancer she was comforted by many co-workers and school class mates who came to visit her. Julie was born in Holdrege, Nebraska to Oscar and Ann Westergren. She attended Holdrege Public Schools until she moved to Eagle, Nebraska with her parents in 1975. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1977. Julie is survived by her mother Ann Westergren, and brothers Gary and Greg Westergren, both of Lincoln, plus her brother Kirby Westergren of Santa Ana, California. She was preceded in death by her father Oscar Westergren and her brother Richard (Kent) Westergren. Julie worked part time at the Sweden Crème while going to school in Holdrege. Once in Eagle she worked part time at the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln while going to school. She began with the Nebraska Department of Roads in the summer of 1977 after graduating from high school, she spent the last 19 years in the Right Of Way department. This spring the state recognized her for 40 years of service to the State of Nebraska. Julie was an avid Lincoln Saltdogs fan, attending most of their games since they began play in Lincoln. She also was big fan of the Nebraska Women’s basketball team. She was also active in the International Right-of-Way-Association. Throughout the years her various pets were a big joy to her. In recent years, she was a consistent supporter and care giver to her mother Ann who lived nearby in Lincoln. A celebration and reflection on Julie’s life will be held at the Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. Visitation will be Monday evening June 12, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family asks any memorials be sent to the Eastmont Foundation that benefits the Monarch Hospice House, 6315 “O” Street, Lincoln, NE 68510.
