Valarie Faye Lucas

Her Memorial Service will held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 280 Oak Tree Lane, Lincoln, CA. Rosary will begin at 10:30 am followed by Mass at 11:00 am. We will proceed to Manzanita Cemetery to lay Valarie to rest at 12:30pm. A 1:30pm reception to follow at Saint Joseph Catholic Church.

Valarie is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Dennis Willis Lucas, married on April 10th, 1976. She is also survived by her children, Kristin Kimbrough, Andrea Matthews and Jennifer Dakin; 9 grandchildren, Anthony Tingler, Eathyn Matthews, Ryan Matthews, Lillyana Kimbrough, Evalynn Dakin, Arabella Kimbrough, Faye Dakin, Brooklyn Matthews, and Veil Dakin; her mother, Faye Gouvea and her sisters, Sheryl Cardoza, Michelle Seruset and Laurie Halcomb. She was preceded by her father, Mario Gouvea.

Valarie, was a graduate of Lincoln High School, class of 1967 and graduate of Fresno State University, where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree and Teaching Credentials. She was a dedicated teacher for 36 years in Placer Union High School District teaching at Del Oro High School and Maidu High Independent Study. Her warmth and kindness help shape the lives of many students over the years.

The joy of her life was her family. She gave endless love and support to all around her, including her very much-loved son-in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. She cherished family gatherings and celebrating her heritage by taking part in the Lincoln Portuguese Festa. The love for her community led her to join several city committees and coaching the Lincoln High School Cheerleaders for several years.

Valarie was a special person whose legacy of love and strength will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
