Flynn Shearon Ryals was born to Vivian Lenora Ryals and Murphy Ryals in San Mateo, California on January 25, 1940. From the young age of five, Flynn decided she would be a pastor’s wife. During her childhood, her family moved frequently until they settled in Lamont, California. There Flynn attended Arvin High School, where she took her first bookkeeping class.
Flynn worked at Bank of America then moved to Scotts Valley to attend Bethany Bible College where she met Kenneth Charles Rowley, the son of an Assemblies of God minister. Flynn married Ken on December 18, 1966 in Bakersfield, California.
They moved frequently in Northern California and Southern Oregon while Ken received his education. She worked at Banks and City and County offices while they pastored churches in Arcata, Westhaven, Marysville, Patterson, and finally Lincoln, California which they faithfully pastored for over 30 years. Flynn worked in the accounting department of Trinity Church for 15 years and retired as Controller.
She was a licensed minister, preached, and led many church ministries, including adult choir, Sunday School, Missionettes, VBS, youth group, and volunteered as a bookkeeper for Lincoln Christian Life Center for over 20 years.
Flynn is survived by her older brother Laith Ryals, husband of 55 years Kenneth Rowley, sisters in Law Tommie Ryals and Alberta Phylis, children Deborah Broadway and Philip Rowley, son-in-law Jeremy Broadway and grand children Erika and Peyton Broadway.
