Barbara M Robinson, born Barbara Masiak, daughter of Stanley and Alice Masiak and sister to Karen Jespersen, was born in Elizabeth NJ . Barbara married Jay A Smith, her high school beau at the age of 19. Together they had four children; Preston, Wendy, Paul and Jay Jr. They were married for 18 years while residing in Maplewood NJ and spent many wonderful summers in their home in Seaside Park NJ. While Barbara was raising her children, she worked in a jewelry store and soon became quite an expert in the knowledge and sales of fine jewelry and diamonds. She always had great taste and enjoyed beautiful things.
In 1975 Barbara worked as Secretary to the Dean of students at Blair Academy , at a prestigious private school in Blairstown NJ. She enjoyed being around all the young students who loved her. Wendy, Paul and Jay Jr received an education at Blair due to her employment at the Academy. While working at Blair in 1980, Barbara met a handsome teacher named Bruce Robinson who was working at Blair as a reading specialist. The two quickly fell in love and were married in December 1981. After marrying the couple then moved to Annapolis Maryland for job opportunities. Barbara was quickly hired by “Manpower” and was put in charge of ten offices in the greater D.C. area. She love her job there and excelled in her career. In 1989 the West coast was calling Barbara as all four of her children were living in California. Another move for Barb and Bruce as they traveled across the country and settled in Benicia CA. here Barbara worked for the Chamber of commerce. She was also involved in Creative Cuisine gatherings, golf, decorating her beautiful home, and traveling to Europe, Central America and Hawaii. However, spending time with her children and grandchildren was the highlight of her life.
Barbara’s final move was in 2010 to Lincoln, Sun City to their retirement home. She enjoyed golfing and ancestry studies, gardening, decorating her home and being with her husband, children and grandchildren.
Barbara passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, June 5th. She was surrounded by her family. She was an amazing person and she will be missed beyond measure.
Services to be held Friday June 21st @ 11:00 am at St Joseph’s church in Lincoln CA. on 280 Oak Tree Lane. Internment will follow at 250 Santa Clara Way, concluding with a luncheon back at St Joseph’s church.
