Dorothy was born February 2, 1923, in Amanda Twp., to Walter and Ilo (Staver) Burget. On September 23, 1942, she married Robert Clayton Verbryke, who preceded her in death August 23, 1993. Dorothy worked at both Jack’s and MCL cafeterias. She also worked at Newberry’s Department Store, The Woolen Mills, and Artex. She assisted her husband with farming. She played the clarinet in Shawnee High School Marching Band, and graduated in 1941. She was a member of the Westside United Methodist Church, a former member of the Kemp Ladies Aide, a former member of the Amanda Township Club and was also the former 4-H advisor for the Amanda Snappy Stitchers. Dorothy loved doing needlepoint, and displayed her works of art around her home.
She is survived by her three daughters, Nancy (Mike Pitz) Kesler, of Elida, Sue (Phil) Osmon, of Lima, and Kay Jones of Ft. Worth, TX; her siblings, Norman (Millie) Burget, of Largo, FL, Richard (Dorothy) Burget, of Lima, Janet (Rev. Don) Holtzapple, of Mansfield, and Gail (Barbara) Burget, of Lima; a brother-in –law, Frank Mueller of Spencerville; her grandchildren, Gary (Tina) Kesler, Jim (Angela) Osmon, John (Daisha) Osmon, and Matt Jones, and four great grandchildren, Bret & Bryant Kesler, and Olivia & Ben Osmon.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dave Kesler, and a sister, Helen Mueller.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 10, 2014, at SIFERD-ORIANS FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. Bill Cronk officiating, and her brother-in-law, Rev. Don Holtzapple assisting. Burial will follow in Allentown Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 1-6 p.m. in the funeral home.
