Statement from Nicole:
Some of you know I’m an only child who grew up in a single-parent family. We had a tough go of it. We moved and moved and then moved some more, but I will always be most grateful for her decision to move to the University Apartments on Clairmont in DeKalb County. She ensured I attended Fernbank Elementary and graduated from Druid Hills High School.
My mother was there for me for my DHHS and Georgia State University graduations. She visited me several times when I lived in Los Angeles. I introduced her to Billy Bob Thornton, and we celebrated a Thanksgiving together in Bel Air. She gave a beautifully eloquent speech at my wedding. She got to hold my daughter Georgia at one month old, and I feel so blessed for these moments and memories.
My mother truly loves my friends. She would say, “You have the best taste in friends, and you’re so lucky to have such wonderful, smart people in your life.”
Friends, we ask you for your prayers of strength, love, and light. Please feel free to share any fond/funny memories, as I know many of you hold her in your hearts.
