Anthony Leonard Fortuna passed away at the young age of 33. He grew up in the Deerfield neighborhood in Sandy Springs, Georgia where he developed friendships for life. He played little league baseball at Morgan Falls from tee-ball to kid-pitch and worked there as an umpire while he was in high school.
Anthony attended St. Jude the Apostle Catholic School from kindergarten to 8th grade and and went on to Blessed Trinity Catholic High School where he was inducted into the National Honor Society and played varsity lacrosse on the inaugural team. He was accepted into the University of Georgia on a Hope Scholarship and graduated from there with Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health. He obtained Hazmat Certification and worked in the commercial equipment rental business.
Anthony loved golfing, and going to Braves, Falcons, Dawgs, and Hawks games with his friends, brothers, cousins, and dad. He was best known for his wit, intellect, resilience, giving his siblings nicknames, and his ability to establish a sense of calmness under all the circumstances. Unfortunately, he struggled for well over a decade with the demons of drug addiction which ultimately took his life, but not his soul.
Anthony was preceded in death by his mother Theresa Colangelo Lande & his grandparents Valerie and Leonard Colangelo and Violet and Fred Fortuna.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Julian and Nancy Fortuna, and his three siblings, Dominic, Vincent, and Cara Fortuna.
There will be a Memorial Service on November 23rd at 3 PM, in the Sanctuary of Dunwoody United Methodist Church, 1548 Mt. Vernon Rd., Dunwoody, Georgia 30338. 770-394-0675.
