Richard grew up on his family's dairy farm in Mebane where his love of tractors began. He enjoyed spending time on the Outer Banks, especially Ocracoke where he spent many days fishing from the surf. Among his favorite hobbies were, airplanes, woodworking, playing the dulcimer, and being a Ham Radio Operator (KF4JPX). Richard was retired from Triad Aviation in Burlington; he had his pilot's license and even built his own plane and was an A&P Airplane Mechanic. A jack of all trades, he was a true mechanical genius. He held his family close to his heart and enjoyed spending time with them.
