Ruby Routh Murphy died Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Clapps Nursing Center, Pleasant Garden. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Liberty; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty.
Ruby was born December 20, 1921 in Randolph County to the late John Wesley and Ada Henderson Routh. She was a member of the graduating class of 1939 at Liberty High School and was employed in textiles until her retirement at the age of 75.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Edison Murphy.
She is survived by daughters, Elizabeth M. Salmon and husband, Larry of Liberty and Deborah M. Pugh and husband, John of Franklinville; sons, Thomas E. Murphy, Jr. of Liberty and Darrell D. Murphy and wife, Valerie of Jacksonville, FL ; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
