The family will receive friends for a time of remembrance from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Loflin Funeral Home of Liberty, 212 West Swannanoa Avenue, Liberty, NC 27298. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Clear View Baptist Church, 2723 Cedar Falls Road, Franklinville, NC 27248; officiated by Rev. Wayne Lamb and Rev. Carey V. Graham.
Maxton was born in 1952 to the late Ralph Maxton Craven and Myrtle Smith Craven. He was also preceded in death by his son, Dr. Kevin Ray Craven.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 49 years, Kathy Lamb Craven; daughter, Kristyn Craven Hardin, and husband, Ben; grandchildren, Poppy Hardin, Hogun Craven, Nadya Craven, Anya Craven, and Anna Craven; sisters, Carolyn Lundy, Mary Lanier, Margaret Williams (Jimmy), Kathy Smith (Mike); brother Wallace Craven (Suzanne); and daughter-in-law, Heather Jenkins.
Maxton served as minister for 40 years at Friendship Independent Church of Ramseur. He dedicated his life to serving his community through service to the town of Franklinville as Commissioner, various Randolph County schools as PTA President, Boy Scouts Master, President of Ten Aqua Pool, and Board Member for the Emmaus Community. No matter the cause or the need, Maxton would not hesitate to lend a hand to help his fellow man. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
