Garland was employed by DH Griffin for 34 years, and presently was the owner/operator of Auto & Metal Recyclers in Ramseur, NC. He was a great husband, father and grandfather.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Woodlake Baptist Church in Pleasant Garden, with Rev. Tommy Vogler and Pastor Clyde Sellers officiating. Burial will follow in Worthville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 until 8 pm at Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty.
Garland was preceded in death by his father, Grover Dillard.
Surviving is his wife of 42 years, Brenda Cooper Dillard; daughters, Patsy Dillard Brown (Timmie) of Mount Gilead; Kristi Dillard of Candor; sons, Gary Wade Dillard (Jennifer Wilson) of Lexington and Gary Dean Dillard of the home; mother, Beatrice Brown Dillard; sisters, Linda Gilbert (Gene) and Shirley Dimmette (Toad) of North Wilkesboro; brother, James Dillard (Joy) of Gibsonville; 4 grandchildren and his dog Dinkey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Randolph County, PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204, in honor of Garland’s primary nurse, Wendy Smith.
