Calvin Charlie Hinshaw

He was a WWII US Army veteran having served in the 602nd Tank Destroyer Battalion, the Battle of The Bulge, Battle of The Rhine River and involved in the liberation of Ohrdruf Concentration Camp which was the first to be liberated by American Forces. Calvin was mechanically inclined, able to fix anything; he enjoyed gardening and woodworking.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Christian Church Cemetery, 1712 Pleasant Hill Liberty Road, Liberty, NC.

He was the son of the late Vernie Delmar and Nettie Florence Pike Hinshaw and was also preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Mae Ashley Hinshaw and brother, JD Hinshaw.

Calvin is survived by his sons, Charles Hinshaw (Kristie) and Patrick Hinshaw (Tina); grandchildren, CJ Hinshaw (Christina), Alyssa Killblane (Paxton), Stephen Hinshaw, Spencer Hinshaw, Sean Hinshaw, Alayna Hinshaw; great-grandson, Ben Hinshaw; brother, Bill Hinshaw; and sister-in-law, Elsie Andrews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to AuthoraCare Collective Hospice, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
