She had a love for gardening and cooking "no bake cookies". Betty had a hand in raising generations of children as a teacher at The Children's Place/Kids R Us for over 35 years in Liberty where she was loved and affectionately known as "JoJo". She was a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church and attended Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Betty will lie in repose at Loflin Funeral Home of Liberty on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Christian Church Cemetery with Rev. Stephen Duncan officiating.
She was the daughter of the late Robert Loren and Nannie York Cheek and was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bobby” Lackey; brother, Sonny Cheek and infant brother, Robert Loren Cheek, Jr.
Betty is survived by her sons, Mike Lackey (Robin) and Tony Lackey (Carol); five grandchildren, Christy Gilland (Darrell), Chris Frazier (Ashleigh), Travis Frazier (Ana), Corbit Lackey (Kim), and Ryan Lackey (Holly); nine great-grandchildren, Cody and Ashley Trotter, Ally and Kenney Houston, Amelia and Jesse Lackey, Mattingly, Sophie and Brayden Frazier; sisters, Frances Matthews and Margie Brooks; and brother, Larry Cheek (Shirley).
