He was an active member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church and served in many capacities there. He volunteered with Hospice of Alamance for several years. He was a founding member and Assistant Chief of the Kimesville Volunteer Fire Department. He lived an active life and never stopped working. After retirement from Sands Food Service, he and a friend started their own business making surveyor stakes. He enjoyed farming on the multi-generational family farm, raising cattle, and going to farmers markets with T5 Farms. He was a friend to all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Christian Church with Rev. Howard Spray and Pastor Willie Pickard officiating; burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He was the son of the late William and Mattie Brooks Thompson and was also preceded in death by his wife, Doris Thomas Thompson.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Vicki Dollar, Nancy Cheek (Eric) and Connie Young (Jay); son, Randy Thompson (Kristi); 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; two sisters, Virginia Cobb and Gerrie Petree.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Hill Christian Church, 1712 Pleasant Hill Liberty Road, Liberty, NC 27298.
