Ronald "Ron" Lee Sheeler

Ronald “Ron” Sheeler, 75, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024. A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held at 1:00pm, Tuesday, November 12th, with a visitation preceding from noon-1pm, all at Church Archer Pasley Funeral Home, 119 E. Franklin St., Liberty, MO 64068. Inurnment with Honors will follow in Glenridge Cemetery in Liberty. Please consider memorial contributions to the VA.

Ron was born January 14, 1949 in Cameron, Missouri to Cleo “Bud” and Alice Sheeler. He attended Oak Ridge Elementary in 1st and 2nd grade and then moved to Liberty. He played football and later graduated from Liberty High School in 1967. Ron attended CMSU from 1968-69, before joining the United States Marine Corps in 1969. He was a top marksman right out of boot camp. Ron was stationed in San Diego – Pendleton and later Vietnam, before his Honorable Discharge in 1971. Ron earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service medal with 1 *, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, and the Rifle Expert Badge. He was very proud of his military service. After he returned home from the war he helped grow the membership of the Liberty VFW, serving in various leadership roles before being elected Commander of the Liberty VFW twice.

When he came back to Missouri, he worked as a pipe-fitter for the gas company from 1972-79. Ron owned and operated the Corner Bar from 1979-81. Then he worked as a gas company contractor from 1982 until his retirement in 2008. Ron also worked odd jobs throughout. He enjoyed fishing occasionally and loved spending time with his dogs, William and then Duke. Ron loved watching old Westerns and trivia. He was a good cook when he put his mind to it. Ron was a big Chiefs and Royals fan. He was a good friend and a good person who loved spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Alice Sheeler; and his beloved daughter, Andrea Sheeler.

Ron is survived by his sister, Cathy Reaves and her husband Philip; his nieces and nephews, Rebecca Reaves, Rachel Hampton and her husband Rhett, Adam Reaves and his wife Amanda; his great-nieces and nephews, Rory and Rhett Hampton, Christian and Penelope “Nellie” Reaves; as well as other relatives and friends.
