Kathryn Joan (Walden) Kurek, 91, of Liberty, Missouri, passed away July 4, 2019. A visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00pm, Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home, 119 East Franklin St., Liberty, MO 64068. Private burial will be conducted at Fairview New Hope Cemetery of Liberty, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Joan was born June 22, 1928 in Kansas City, MO to Norman Albert and Dora Jane (Greene) Walden. She graduated from North Kansas City High School. Joan was joined in marriage to Ted C. Kurek, Jr. in March 1947. They attended Liberty United Methodist Church. After her husband’s passing, Joan began working at Clay County Title and Abstract, later in advertising for Liberty Tribune, she retired at age 80 from Brian Unger Tax Prep and Accounting. Joan was a member of numerous Bridge Clubs and Garden club. She loved nothing more than having all the family together and laughing – she had a wonderful sense of humor.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Ted C. Kurek, Jr; as well as her sister and two brothers.
She is survived by her daughters, Janice Harmon (John) of Liberty, MO, and Cheryl Largent (Eugene) of Pittsburg, KS; her grandchildren, Scott Carr (Kelli) of Liberty, MO, Chris Carr of Chicago, IL, Ryan Largent of Pittsburg, KS, Jill Newberry (David) of Webb City, MO, and Amy Largent of Des Moines, IA; great-grandchildren, Conner and Courtney Carr, and Kooper, Kamden, and Kaia Newberry; and her nephew, Kevin Wagner of Independence, MO.
