Guy L. Harkness

Guy L Harkness, 77, of Liberty, MO, passed away August 2, 2023 with family at his side. A memorial visitation will be 10:30-noon, Saturday, August 12th, with a prayer service at noon followed by memory sharing all at St. James Catholic Church - Parish Hall, 309 S Stewart Rd, Liberty, MO 64068. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Guy was born February 19, 1946 in Topeka, KS to Dr. Harry and Mary Harkness. He graduated from Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, MO in 1963. Guy was a member of Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity while at Central Missouri University, where he graduated in 1967. He started in sales and worked up to management in the coatings, tooling and gel coating industry for many years and in 2004 started his own business Guy L. Harkness Enterprises as a manufacturer representative for two specialty chemical manufacturers. Guy was very proud of his 56 years in the specialty chemical industry. He married Jane Stadler in September 2009. Guy loved riding motorcycles, playing golf, bowling, and watching sports – especially hockey. He had a great passion for travel and fine wine.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Dr. Harry Harkness.

Guy is survived by his wife, Jane Stadler Harkness; his daughters, Elizabeth Rooney (Blake) of Shawnee, KS, Sarah McGee of Williamsburg, MO; his stepsons, Matthew Stadler (Micah) of Liberty, MO, and Zachary Stadler (Rachel) of Kansas City, MO; his grandchildren, Cameron Rooney, Evan McGee, Madelyn McGee, Anna, Adiline, Aubryn, and Anders Stadler, and Arlo and Lincoln Stadler; as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
