Frankie passed away early Saturday morning on November 2, 2024 at his beloved home on Lake Murray, SC surrounded by his family. Born on July 28, 1943 in Gastonia, NC, Frankie was the son of the late Willie F. Dial, Sr. and the late Evelyn Gantt.
Frankie attended BC High School where he played football and was a 1966 graduate of the University of South Carolina, earning a BS Degree in Accounting. He played football for South Carolina after receiving a full scholarship. Frankie earned his CPA certificate in 1968 and was one of the founding partners of Brittingham, Dial & Jeffcoat, CPA firm in West Columbia, SC. Frankie worked as a CPA for 47 years and had many clients over the entire state. He retired in 2013 to spend more time with his family and friends. Frankie was passionate about many things. He loved to hunt, fish, play golf and spent wonderful days at the beach and the mountains.
Frankie was a member of Pisgah Lutheran Church in Lexington SC where he served on the Council, Building Committee, usher and greeter. He was a member of the AICPA and SC Association of CPA’s and other civic organizations.
Frankie leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 27 years, Karen Dial; sons, Bill Dial (Rynde) of Anderson, SC, Wade Dial of Denton, GA, Austin Dial (Keely) of Prosperity, SC and Jonathan Shorter (Lauren) of New Orleans, LA; 6 grandchildren, Drake, Kathleen, Audrey, Pearson, Knoll and Rivers; and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Ronnie Dial and step father, Bill Gantt.
A celebration of Frankie’s life will be held at Pisgah Lutheran Church, Lexington SC on November 16th at 1:00 p.m. and visitation prior to the service starting at 11:00 a.m. A private inurnment will be held after the service.
Frankie touched countless lives through his work and play and lived every day to the fullest. He was an avid Gamecock fan and attended many home games where he tailgated with family and friends. Frankie was a wonderful husband, son, father & friend to many who will cherish fond memories of him. He was truly one of a kind.
