Ken was born on February 25, 1949 to William and Ada Poole in Central, SC. After Ken graduated from Daniel High School in 1967, he went on to study at Central Wesleyan College and do graduate work at Clemson University.
He started his teaching and coaching career at Boiling Springs High School. He went on to continue his career at Lexington High School and Richland Northeast High School. Ken retired from Airport High School. He touched many lives of student athletes throughout his 38 year coaching career.
Ken married his high school sweetheart, Sandra Manley, in 1968. Ken and Sandra went on to have two children, Brandon (Trina) and Kindra Murphy. They have four grandchildren: Kennedy and Cade Poole and Mallory and Tucker Murphy.
In 2012, Ken retired and spent his time playing golf, fishing and enjoying his dogs.
Ken was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Russell Poole. He is survived by his wife, Sandra, children and grandchildren, as well as many cherished cousins and friends.
Services will be held at Mt. Horeb Church, 1205 Old Cherokee Rd, Lexington, SC 29072, on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at 3:00 pm with visitation starting at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ken’s memory to Airport High School Booster Club or a charity of your choosing.
