Mr. Tinsley was born in Newberry, SC on June 7, 1943. He was the son of the late Charles Owen Tinsley and Mary Ruth Evans Tinsley. He is survived by his wife, Betty; his daughter, Theresa Sabbagha, and son Scott Tinsley, both of Lexington; Special granddaughters, Raven, Amy, Chloe; grandson, Cody Maxwell and great granddaughter, Zayden, who he loved dearly; sisters Ann Zimmerman and Brenda Silvio, both of Lexington, and Louise Mlcoch (Frank) of Elgin, SC as well as special extended family members.
He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers: David and Larry Tinsley, and sister, Betty Baskin.
Mr. Tinsley attended Newberry High School in Newberry, SC after which he served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1963. He owned and operated Tinsley Steel Company until retiring in 2004.
A funeral service for Virgil will be held Sunday, June 25, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home - Lexington Chapel, 503 N. Lake Dr, Lexington, South Carolina 29072 with a visitation to follow. A celebration of life will also be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 at the Redbank Community Center located at 228 Community Drive, Lexington, South Carolina 29073. In lieu of flowers, please send plants that can be re-planted.
