Thomas William Robinson, III, 78, passed away on Monday, July 31st. He was the son of the late Thomas William Robinson, II and Alice Spinks Robinson. Tom survived cancer for over ten years, living life to the fullest; enjoying sunrises, family vacations, working and volunteering. In the past six months, Tom tirelessly battled and suffered with pancreatic cancer, limiting his ability to live and enjoy the life he loved. He has now been fully restored to complete healing in Heaven.
Tom was an active member of Mt. Horeb Methodist Church and a United States Navy Veteran, receiving the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He retired from the Xerox Corporation as the Senior Account Manager for South Carolina. Tom received numerous awards from Xerox for his faithful years of service and his marketing ability. Tom recently retired from his second career at the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department as a Reserve Deputy and Victim Advocate. Tom was awarded the Major Case Contribution Award, the Community Service Award (with the Oak Leaf Cluster) and the Meritorious Conduct Award along with multiple other accolades. He also received Civilian Employee of the Year in 2013 and Reserve Deputy of the Year in 2014 from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Foundation.
Tom proudly volunteered on various committees and boards during his lifetime, to include, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Foundation, Lexington Medical Center Patient Care Advocate, and Lexington Villa Home Owner’s Association. Tom dedicated his life to serving others, being a peacemaker and a light to those in need. His jovial, caring spirit made him a friend to all.
Survivors include, “the love of his life”, his wife, Pamela Lynn Robinson; sons, William “Bill” Robinson, IV, Benjamin “Ben” Robinson, Braden Robinson; grandchildren, Alice Robinson and her mother, Vienna Robinson, Mason Robinson and his mother Lisa-Marie Robertson; sister, Vicki Brown; mother and father-in-law, Barbara and Pete Cox; sister-in-law, Debbie (Omar “OJ”) Buttari; brother-in-law, Robert (Janine) Cox and their children, Kaitlyn and Ashley Cox and “Jack”, his beloved Jack Russell.
Tom was predeceased by his step-son, Corey Andrew Livingston; sisters, Judy Ford and June Cole; and brother, Bill Robinson.
Funeral services for Tom will be held on Monday, August 7th, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Horeb Methodist Church, 1205 Old Cherokee Road, Lexington, SC 29072, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Deputies of the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department will serve as Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers.
