Suzanne Scott Barrineau

Suzanne Scott Barrineau found peace on November 22, 2024, in Lexington, SC. Suzanne was born on February 12, 1946, in Charleston, SC. She was the oldest of four children born to her parents, Elmer and Louise Scott. Suzanne graduated from Newberry College with a degree in Elementary Education. She married the love of her life, James Rodger Barrineau, in 1966. They settled in Lexington, SC, where they raised their three children. Suzanne taught at Lexington Elementary School and later took time off to raise their children. When she returned to work, she focused on adult education for Lexington School District 2 until her retirement.

Suzanne loved the color purple and spending time with her family, shopping, traveling, listening/playing music, and crabbing for blue crab. She could sit all day on a dock by the water with a piece of string, chicken, and a weight catching crab. She also never met a sale she did not like and loved shopping for bargains. Suzanne loved music and enjoyed playing the piano and organ.

Suzanne was a devoted mother and grandmother. She most enjoyed watching her grandchildren excel at their passions including marching band competitions, baseball games, and colorguard shows. She loved traveling, especially taking cruises and visiting her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren in Wyoming.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister. She is survived by her children, Scott Barrineau (Libba) of Lexington, SC, Denise Wray (Manuel) of Fort Mill, SC, and Christina Barrineau (Mark Wefel) of Leavenworth, WA; her six grandchildren: Brighton, Reilly, Brendan, Cameron, Bridger, and Cooper; two sisters, Carla Greene and Kathy Billiot; and her nieces and nephews.

The family wants to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the caregivers of Oakleaf Village. They provided unwavering and superior care to Suzanne over the past year and especially in her final days. The family will have a memorial service for Suzanne on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 3PM at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home in Lexington, SC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
