LEXINGTON - Roy Quinton Adams, 91, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Red Bank Baptist Church with interment at 3:30 p.m. in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2015 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.
He was born in Newnan, Georgia on September 5, 1923. He was the son of the late Claude and Clara Adams. He was a longtime member of Red Bank Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and men’s Sunday school teacher for many years. He was a 1939 graduate of Fayette County High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a Staff Sergeant and Veterinarian Medic for five years. After leaving the Army, he moved to Charleston, South Carolina and became the Service/Parts Manager at the Dodge Dealership. He later relocated his family to Columbia, South Carolina and served as Parts Manager at Hampton Pontiac until his retirement. He is predeceased in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Holbrook Adams; second wife, Dorothy Harris Adams and his daughter, Carolyn I. Harrelson. He is survived by his daughter of Columbia, Loretta A. Wenum; granddaughter of Rock Hill, Kimberly Markease and great-grandson, Eli Markease, as well as, many friends.
