Karen Ison Sites of Columbia, SC passed into eternity November 21, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. Karen was born in Lexington, Kentucky on February 24, 1956. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Franklin Sites. She is also survived by her brother, Johnny Riggs of West Liberty, Kentucky. She was predeceased by her brother, Ronald Goodman.
Karen was a loving mother to her two daughters, Laura Hope Disher (Hewie) and Jamie Sites Hedrick (Alex). Her greatest joy was found in her five grandchildren, Jordyn Caitlyn Disher, Jacob Daniel Tetreault, Jonathan Cole Tetreault, Julian Skylar Disher, and Madison Faith Disher. While grand mothering was her favorite past time, she also enjoyed baking, reading and shopping.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, SC from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services are planned for Wednesday, November 27, 2019, also at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, SC at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Mount Horeb Lutheran Church Cemetery, Chapin, SC. Karen's family have requested that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in lieu of flowers.
Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements.
