WEST COLUMBIA – Josie Amick Boland Turner, 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 9, 2012 in West Columbia, SC. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, West Columbia, SC with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at 811 Pond Drive, Springdale/West Columbia following the service.
Josie was born February 9, 1923 in Chapin, SC. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Annie Lee Amick. She was lovingly known as “Aunt Mutt” by all of her nieces and nephews. She was retired from Southeastern Freight Lines where many knew her as “Ma” while she was a cashier/bookkeeper at the Columbia Terminal.
As a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, she was an active member in many capacities such as serving in the Ladies Aid Society, other circle groups and visiting shut-ins as long as her health allowed.
She is survived by her four children and their families, Wayne Boland of West Columbia, SC, Ronnie (Tonia) Boland of Chapin, SC, Vivian (Mike) Baxter of West Columbia, SC and Betty Jo (Scott) Cato of Lexington, SC; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Jesse Irvin Boland, Jr. and her second husband, Padgett Turner. She was also predeceased by her two sisters, Juanita McCartha and Geneva Benson, and daughter-in-law, Marsha Brantley Boland.
The family would like to thank the staff of Agape Senior Care at Leaphart Road, West Columbia, SC for their kindness and support over the past five and a half years.
