John (dad) was the strength and stronghold in our family. Many times his children, while they were young, would ask him to flex his biceps so they could swing from his arms. ‘One more time, daddy,’ echoed through our home followed by laughter. They looked up to him with such respect and love knowing he was their earthly protector and provider. What else can be said! John loved BIG! He was full of life, laughter, service, love, humor and Jesus!
John was a Godly example of a husband, father, servant, and friend. His laughter was contagious. But sometimes it meant he was getting into trouble or being mischievous! He couldn’t help himself especially when looking for the next joke to share with family and friends.
John never met a stranger! He served his community well and never hesitated in doing so. He always made you feel welcome and deserving of the service he and his ‘guys’ provided. Not only did he serve his community, John also served his family with such kindness and respect. He served because he wanted to, because he loved people, and because he loved his family. But more importantly, he served because he loved God and desired to honor the Lord!
It was exciting to watch his faith grow stronger the older he got and after his Parkinson’s Disease diagnosis. John’s life was a true testimony to those he encountered throughout his life, showing them that even through tough times, God is still good in it all! To know that he lived out his faith and passed it on to his children, to his community and more is such a testament of the greatness of our Lord and Savior!
