LEXINGTON – Graveside services for John Thomas Cato, 97, widower of Edna Pearl Youngblood, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 in Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC. Pastor Dan Bacon will conduct the services.
Mr. Cato was born November 7, 1916 in Augusta, GA and passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2013. He was a son of the late John Thomas Cato, Sr. and Arma Lee Harbuck Cato Rush. He was a life member of the Ancient Free Masons at Kershaw Lodge No. 29. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific Theater in a PT boat squadron. John retired from Colonial Stores after 50 years of service.
Surviving are his children, Anne (Bob), John (Susan), Donald (Sylvia) and Charles (Dottie); sister, Dorothy (Dane); 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years; daughter, Connie Cato Youngblood; sister, Mary and brother, James “Buddy”.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindley request that memorials be made to Pisgah Lutheran Church, 1350 Pisgah Church Road, Lexington, SC 29072.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to his neighbors, Betty Watts, Brian Hoile, Grace Woody and Donna Sue Richburg for their unselfish deeds of kindness extended to him.
