LEXINGTON - Funeral services for John D. “J.D.” Williams, Jr., 81, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2015 at Rehoboth United Methodist Church with entombment in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Williams was born in Chester, SC to the late John D. Williams, Sr. and Annie Laura Wooten Williams and passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015. He was a graduate of Lexington High School where he was football captain under Coach Ingram. He started his career with Western Electric which later became AT&T and retired after 35 years of service. In 1964 he moved to Florence, SC then came back to Lexington in 1986 to retire on the lake, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. After retirement he began working for Enterprise where he was currently employed.
He is survived by his daughters, Debbie Zinker (George) of Florence and Tracey Wooten (Roger) of Lexington; grandchildren, Bradley Watts (Jessica) of Pawley’s Island, Matthew Watts (Sarah) of Florence, Justin Wooten (Blair) of Lexington, Corinne Wooten of Lexington; four great-grandchildren; sister, Ethel Davis (LB) of Lexington; loving friend, Mary Ann Risinger of Lexington and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Shirley Jumper Williams; sisters, Annie Wessinger and Mary Williams and his brothers, Jack and Joseph Williams.
Caughman-Harman Funeral Home Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
