Jay Edward Campbell, age 89, of Lexington, South Carolina peacefully left to rest in glory with the Lord, on Sunday, June 11, 2023. The first and only child to Laurie Jay Campbell and his wife, Ruth (née Speed), was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on August 14, 1933.
He graduated from Cleveland Institute of Art with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design. His early professional career began at Reynold’s Aluminum in Louisville, Kentucky. In the early ‘60’s, Jay returned to Pennsylvania. He began working as a Draftsman, with HMS Associates, until his retirement as Vice President in 1995.
He was a man of few words, but had many talents as an excellent chef, skilled silversmith, avid chess player and closet guitarist. Dance skills, bar none and the world’s best hugger!
Jay leaves behind, Patricia “Pat” Ann Campbell, his current wife. Pat’s sweet southern charm, endless devotion and the snowless winters of South Carolina soothed his aching aging bones for the most wonderful 29 years of his life.
He will be sorely missed and loved eternally by his three (3) daughters, from a previous marriage, and his daughter-in-law: Laura and Kyle Donaldson of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; Robin Johnston of Lexington, South Carolina; Sharon and Tom Rimmer of Kintnersville, Pennsylvania and Maureen and Barry Kospiah of Barto, Pennsylvania, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren! Of course, Sadie, Jay’s sweet little dachshund, whom was the highlight of his day!
Jay has been greeted in heaven by his predeceased youngest daughter, Alane Davis and son-in-law, Tom Johnston.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.caughmanlexington.com for the Campbell family.
