Jane was born in Somerset, PA on May 21, 1944, and spent her early years there, and in Colorado. Her family later moved to Belvedere, SC in 1952. She graduated from North Augusta High School, then attended The University of Georgia, graduating in 1965. She married William A. (Bill) Anderson in Athens, GA on November 12 of that same year. This marked the beginning of the 57 devoted, love-filled years that they spent by each other’s side.
Jane believed deeply in the value of helping others and working toward the goal of a society that benefits, and offers opportunities to, everyone. She attended protests in Chicago in the 1960s while employed there as a social worker, but ultimately determined that the best way for her to help us all realize an improved collective future was through teaching. She earned her Master’s Degree, and taught students of various ages for over 35 years across four different states. She continued to exercise her passion for education as a volunteer in schools, libraries, and churches long after her retirement.
Jane found great joy in travel and discovering new places. In particular, she loved the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Northwest, where she, Bill, and their son Seth lived during the 1980s. The family spent many weekends and holidays during that period exploring new parts of those regions, with her preferred, eclectic musical soundtrack playing on the car’s tape deck.
Jane is survived by her husband, Bill; and by her son, William Seth. Both of whom will miss her immeasurably. She is predeceased by her parents, Robert and Odella Everett; and also by her brother, Gregory Scott Everett.
A funeral service for Jane will be held Friday, July 7, 2023 at 10:00 AM at The Episcopal Church of St. Simon and St. Jude, 1110 Kinley Rd., Irmo, SC 29063.
