Frank was born June 3, 1939 in Marshville, NC to Fred and Georgia Griffin. He was the youngest of three sons. Frank was preceded in death by his father and mother; brothers, Keith Griffin, Tom Griffin and stepson, Gregory Rawson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene King Griffin; sons, Guy Griffin (Cookie), Mark Griffin (Carmen), Michael Griffin and stepson, Stephen Rawson; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jacob Rawson, the joys of his life, and a host of cousins, nephews, aunts and uncles.
After graduating from Marshville High School, Marshville, NC, he attended Marshville University. Frank joined the Army National Guard completing six months active duty, earning an Honorable Discharge. Frank worked with the National Council of Boy Scouts and in 2004 received an honorary service award to the Gold Palmetto Club, Indian Waters Council, BSA. He had a passion for golf, reading espionage books, volunteering at his church, St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Irmo, SC, where he served as Council President for two terms and also as council chair with the Property and Cemetery Committees.
Frank worked for several years with Duke Power Company in NC before becoming an independent manufacturer’s representative of commercial foodservice equipment in 1968 for Jenkins and Associates headquartered in Fayetteville, NC.
In 1983, he and his business partner, Tommy Hale, purchased Jenkins and Associates and continued to operate under the same name for the next eight years. In 1991, the company moved its headquarters to Irmo, SC, and changed the name to Griffin, Hale and Associates, Inc. With industry changes, in 2000, Frank became sole owner of Griffin Marketing Group, Inc. covering both North and South Carolina. He was respected in the Food Service Manufacturers Business nationwide, receiving many awards. On November 6, 2005, Frank retired from the Griffin Marketing Group. A surprise retirement gathering of friends, family and representatives in the business that he had worked with for 38 years was held in his honor. Frank is being remembered as a gentleman for his professionalism throughout his career.
A private service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2020 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church. Out of an abundance of care, social distancing for those in attendance will be enforced to maintain a safe environment; masks required.
Thank you to the entire staff of Still Hopes; at Sanders Guignard Rehabilitation, Skilled Nursing at Saluda Neighborhood at Greenway for their loving care given to Frank. Also Hospice Nurse, Freia Westbrook, RN, representing Prisma Health Hospice for her kind words and professionalism.
