PELION – Mrs. Florence Timmerman Smith, 84, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 peacefully at Agape Senior in West Columbia.
Mrs. Smith was born June 10, 1927 in Greenwood, South Carolina. She was the wife of the late Thomas L. Smith. Mrs. Smith is survived by her two sons and their wives, William T. and Sherrie Smith and Michael P. and Donna Smith; her grandchildren and spouses, William P. Smith and wife Harmony, and Amanda Estridge and husband Brandon; her great grandchildren, Hailey, Lilly-Anna and Hanna.
Mrs. Smith graduated from Edgefield High School and Business College in Greenwood, South Carolina. She retired from School District 1 after 27 years of dedicated service. She was the secretary to the principal at Pelion School and later the secretary to the superintendant of School District 1, from where she retired. Florence was a member of Pelion United Methodist Church and a member of Eastern Star. She was a Meals on Wheels volunteer. Some of her many hobbies were reading, sewing and crocheting
She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend. We will all miss her.
The family wishes to give special thanks to her caregivers, Leila Sutton, Agnes Bartos, Rosalba Orazco and the staff at Agape Senior in West Columbia.
Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held at Pelion United Methodist Church, 810 Magnolia Street in Pelion on Friday, July 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Pelion.
