Billy Hart Eddins, of West Columbia, peacefully passed away at home with family on Saturday, August 7, 2021. A celebration of his life will be held at Woodridge Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Lexington, South Carolina, 1:00 pm, Thursday, August 12. The family will receive friends following the service.
Bill, “B.H.” or “Wild Bill” was born in Hadsboro, NC on December 27, 1924. He was the loving son of the late Ben and Jesse Eddins. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon. Through the years, he has served the Lord and has been well loved and respected throughout his community. He was very passionate about being a Mason for over half a century! His greatest accomplishment was his family. He was the best husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin anyone could ask for.
Bill loved to speak about his long employment and retirement from Johnson Controls. He often spoke of working at The Oakridge Uranium Enrichment Plant in Tennessee. He worked on the Manhattan Project. This was very special to him because it helped end WWII with the creation of the Atomic Bomb. Bill was one of the last of “The Great Generation”.
Bill was co-owner of the Skyline Supper Club for 34 years; a place that he loved dearly and the people loved him!
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ella Claire Baker Eddins and his precious daughter, Janice Gulbis Gardner. Surviving are his daughter, Deneise Gaines (Doyle); grandchildren, Nicole G. Cobb (Clyde), Amber G. McLeod (Bryan), Natasha Gulbis (Luke), Bradley Gulbis (Tina), Dustin Gaines and Destiny Gaines; great grandchildren, Alexys Cobb, Austin Cobb, Bryce McLeod, Lundyn Gulbis, Nikolia Gulbis, Braxston Gulbis and Allison Gaines and his loving previous son-in-law and caretaker, Guy Gardner (Crystal).
We would also like to mention Jessica “Jesse” McLendon for her love and care while Bill was home. Thank you to Amedysis Hospice and the nurses that cared for Bill.
