He attended Clemson University and was a member of Johnston National Guard for three years. He worked for his father at Satcher Ford in Aiken, SC for several years. In 1964, Ben moved to Lexington and purchased Lorick Ford in downtown Lexington. He operated Ben Satcher Motors until 2011 when he retired to enjoy working on his farm. He was a board member of the Citizens & Southern Bank in Lexington and was a generous sponsor of numerous local sporting teams and youth activities throughout the years. He was a devoted father and grandfather.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Cynthia C. Satcher; his sons, Benjamin W. Satcher, Jr. and Robert C. Satcher (Kelly) and his daughter, Mary Lynn “Sissy” Satcher Bynum. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Satcher Bynum Armstrong (Branford), Henry C. Bynum III (Stephanie), Ann-Lanius Bynum Noblitt (Matt), Benjamin Wright Bynum (Lindsey), Sutton Satcher Barrow (Robert), Robert C. Satcher, Jr., Benjamin GP Satcher and Sarah-Kate Satcher and his great grandchildren: Mary Clarke, William, and Oliver Armstrong; Abigail, Eliza and Charlotte Bynum; Willow and Naomi Noblitt. He is also survived by special nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 20, from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Graveside services will be held at Mount of Olives Cemetery in Johnston, SC on Friday, April 21 at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Lexington United Methodist Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
