Alice Rikard Bouknight Shealy, 98, passed away on Friday, October 20th, 2023. She was born and raised in the Mill Village in Lexington, SC on November 22nd, 1924. Alice was the daughter of Mertie Estelle Goff Rikard and Simuel David Rikard.
Alice graduated from LHS in 1942. She began working at the age of 17 in Martel Mill in the Lexington office and transferred to Burlington in Batesburg. She retired at age 62 and was very proud of her 45 years of service to Burlington. Her next 30 years were devoted to her family, home, gardening, and cooking. She was very active at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, WELCA, Saints Alive, Lake Murray Community Club, and Senior Singing Group.
She is survived by her daughter, Renee Sox; son-in-law, Marvin Sox; grandsons, Brad (Stacie), Kyle (Lucy), Kevin (Stephanie), and Blake (Dana); great-granddaughters, Camden Sox and Brooke Sox; and great-grandsons, Benjamin Sox and Jacob Sox.
She was predeceased by her parents; loving husband, Monroe Jacob “Jack” Bouknight; sister, Rubie Davis; brother, Samuel “Sam” Rikard; great-granddaughter, Aveline Elise “Avie” Sox; and her second husband, Edward Shealy.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, October 22nd, 2023 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home - Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday October 23rd, 2023 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 210 Bethlehem Circle, Leesville, SC 29070, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
